‘The East End – a howling sea of human wreckage..’ – Arthur Morrison
R.M. Anderson is fast becoming one of the most celebrated interpreters of London folklore and history. His brainchild, Songs From The Howling Sea started as a simple, yet ambitious project: Anderson wrote, performed and released a song every week for 52 weeks, celebrating London’s Old East End and paying tribute to its stories and characters not only with every tune, but with an accompanying video for each.
The fruit of this endeavour is the album ‘Songs From The Howling Sea – East End!’
Songs From The Howling Sea sparked rave reviews, and received international exposure. Following the songwriter’s performance at the opening of the London Olympics Aquatic Centre, a new initiative was birthed; a series dedicated to the 5 London Olympic Boroughs, Tower Hamlets, Stratford. Greenwich, Waltham Forest and Hackney.
These songs are collected on the albums ‘The Five Boroughs’ Vol 1&2.
